Inspired to Excel

With the city spread out before me, I couldn’t help but appreciate why I was visiting San Francisco. My friend, Brad, has always had to work hard his whole life. His parents never had that much money and he started working at relatively early age. He worked his way through high school, delivering pizzas and working at the Gap.

To top it off, he was also a Varsity soccer player and played on the community tennis team. Somehow, he always managed to make straight A’s. In college, it was the same story. All four years of his undergraduate degree saw him working two part-time jobs on top of his full class load. Brad is the type of guy who has an open heart and likes helping the less fortunate, even if that eats into his work or school schedule.

Appropriately enough, his major was social work. At the ripe old age of 22, he graduated with honors. I remember being flabbergasted by his drive and commitment. As the years went by, though, I could tell his job in social work was wearing him down.

A year after he graduated, his sister ended up in the hospital with some serious complications. His parents were on a fixed pension and the bills were piling up. When he told me that he was going back to school to become a doctor, I was shocked. It’s not that I didn’t think he could pull it off, mind you. But medical school is a grueling decade of work.

That’s Brad for you. He doesn’t think in terms of something being hard or easy. He just does it. That’s why this trip to San Francisco was so special — because he just finished his first semester in medical school. There are people in our lives that remind us that it’s never too late to take a risk — make sure you make time to celebrate them.

If you find yourself in the City By the Bay, you should have a plethora of San Francisco hotels to choose from. Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

Orlando Florida Theme Parks

I love theme parks. I have to, I live in Orlando, otherwise known as Theme Park Central. That’s why I know that, when you come to visit all the parks, you don’t have to restrict your dining to vending cart hot dogs. From something fast to gourmet dining, your options are varied and delicious.

For a fast meal someplace you can cool down between rides, you can’t beat Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. They have a menu full of Americana, with some nice kosher options. My favorite is the chicken, served with mashed potatoes even better than Mom used to make.

There’s also Liberty Tree Tavern, in Liberty Square. Their pot roast and turkey plates are tasty, and the Butter Griddled Pound Cake is the best dessert in the entire Kingdom. On Main Street, make sure to try Tony’s Town Square. Sit down, relax, and definitely try the baked ziti.

For an additional taste of Hollywood while you’re wandering Hollywood Studios, go to the Brown Derby. They have a wide range on their menu, and you can gaze at the stars (so to speak). If you’re looking for something more mid western than coastal, then the 50′s Prime Time Cafe is where you want to head. And if you want to travel farther afield, the Italian at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante might be just what you’re traveling to find.

You could go anywhere for beef, chicken, burgers, pork, pasta, pizza, and so on, but to see a living rainforest, you have to go to the Rainforest Cafe in the Animal Kingdom. The animatronic animals all come to life when the thunder starts every twenty minutes, and that is what you are really paying for.

You can find vegetarian fare at the Tusker House buffet, and even the carnivores will enjoy the spiced tofu. Epcot has wonderful restaurants representing food around the world. They are wildly popular, and can get very busy, so be sure to call ahead to see if you need reservations. Le Cellier in Canada serves a steak that is a must-taste, but my favorite is Yorkshire County Fish Shop. It is busy, and hard to find a seat, but even standing, the fish and chips are the highlight of the park.

Del Mar – Where The Beautiful People Are

Imagine a romantic vacation getaway to a quiet, relaxing and scenic village on the beautiful Pacific Ocean. This getaway has charming hotels and Inns, phenomenal restaurants and miles of gorgeous beaches. It’s just those elements that make up the gem that is called Del Mar, California.

Del Mar is Spanish for “of the sea” because it is located right on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. It’s lauded by travel critics as one of the most beautiful and delicious resort beach towns in the world. Here you will find delightful lagoons, five-star restaurants, romantic bed and breakfast inns, scenic jogging trails, myriad vacation options, sandy beaches and a one-of-a-kind horse racing track

Del Mar has been home to Hollywood celebrities starting in the 1940′s. Bing Crosby and Jimmy Durante made the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club become one of the most famous and prestigious horse racing organizations in the entire world. Angie Dickenson and Burt Bacharach purchased residences in Del Mar. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez were regulars at the track and at Del Mar’s restaurants. Brad Pitt recently purchased a home here in Del Mar – an $18 million dollar beachfront home – so now Brad sightings are the new talk of the town.

Del Mar is a tiny community consisting of only two square miles along the Pacific Ocean in Northern San Diego County. Solana Beach is it’s neighbor on the north, while Torrey Pines State Reserve and La Jolla border on the south. The population of Del Mar is somewhere between 4000 and 5000 residents (depending on who does the counting). “Del-Marians” live among beautiful sandstone canyons or on bluff tops overlooking the ocean – and they all enjoy gorgeous sunsets.

Del Mar is home to the endangered Torrey Pine, the rarest species of pine tree in the United States. Only two populations of this endangered species exist – one in Torrey Pines State Reserve the other in Del Mar proper.

The San Diego County Fair is hosted on the Del Mar Fairgrounds every summer (more often called the Del Mar Fair). It opened on a 184 acre site in the San Dieguito Valley in 1936. The site was determined to be the perfect spot – just off the main highway while still located near the Pacific Ocean’s cooling breezes on hot summer days. The annual selection of a Queen – the Fairest of the Fair – is a highlight each year.

It was Bing Crosby who took a leading role to ensure that the now-world-famous Del Mar Race Track became reality. Del Mar Race Track opened in 1937 with newspapers dubbing the track “Bing’s Baby.” The next year Bing recorded a song that would eventually open each day of the racing season since those early days – Where The Turf Meets the Surf.

Terry Hunefeld retired as a corporate executive in 2007 to spend more time outdoors. He now volunteers his time on the board of directors of the Audubon Society and leads charter voyages to sea to observe and count seabirds and marine mammals. In the main hall there is a huge diamond which represents the starting point of the National High Way that goes all along the island. This project was also finished together with the construction of the Capitol.

The statue of the Republic of Cuba, inspired in the Havanan model Lily Vlty, has the third place in the world of the highest sculptures indoors. It was installed in 1929, in the room of the Lost Steps (Saln de los Pasos Perdidos). It was made by Angelo Zanelli who also used this model to sculpt the statues of the central piazza.

Air Travel With Kids – 3 Tips To Surviving This Stress With Your Kids

Going on holiday is supposed to be fun, however, when you have small children it can feel like a relocation rather than a holiday.

A bad flight can leave even the calmest of parents distraught. Apart from wishing that you had never left home, you know that there is a chance that the flight home may be just as bad.

Below are our vital tips to not only survive, but also to enjoy your air travel with kids.

1. Be Organized – It is important to make sure that you are super organized. If you can’t find something you need you will be more likely to get stressed and will hence become less tolerant. Invest in a suitable bag with compartments which will have a place for everything and keep everything in its correct place.

2. Choosing Your Snack Food – It is important to pack the correct food for a journey. Hungry children are always hard work ,so make sure that you have a protein snack such as cold sausages. You will also need something which is bulking such as crackers – they travel well and no matter how many you eat of them you can’t make yourself sick. Finally you will need some treats, it is a good idea to choose a treat which will last a little while such as a lollipop.

3. Provide Simple Entertainment – Do not take anything with parts which could get lost. Do not take anything to which they are too attached. A new toy is often a good idea. To make receiving the toy a little more special you can always wrap it up and give it on the plane as a reward for being good in the airport.

If you consider that your holiday starts when you get up on the morning of travel and try to be in the holiday mood you will probably find the day easier. If you see the journey as tedious then the children will also do so and they will not make the same sort of effort to enjoy it.

It is important to keep your expectations realistic. If you can keep vomiting, tears and fighting to a minimum while managing a few giggles and some good games, then it is a success.
