Since the UK Lottery was established it has made millionaires out of over eight million individuals. But what is that old saying that goes with any gambling? How are you going to win if you never play? In November of’94 the UK Lottery was established. Over 750,000 players win prizes on a weekly basis.
The Biggest UK Lottery Win For An Individual The single person who won the largest jackpot on the UK lottery happened in June’95. Paul Maddison and Mark Gardiner, both from Brighton, shared 22,590,829. Winners have the right to not be identified if they want, due to the fact that in December’94 an individual winner of 17.44 million was leaked to the newspapers. The bashful ticket holder, who was an Asian factory worker that lived in Blackburn, was found very easily tracked by the press.
The biggest jackpot winner for the National UK Lottery was a ticket that was shared by three holders back in January’96. The Irish lottery saw the biggest individual European lottery winner with a woman from Limerick, the El Gordo lottery created a whole town of winners in Spain.
Even though all of these jackpots are an enormous amount of money that would change most peoples lives, the biggest and the brightest winning jackpot occurred right here in the United States when a Nebraska man working at a meat packing plant won 365 Million dollar lottery jackpot. This immigrant worker laid low and caused a major stir when the 365 million dollar winning jackpot was allowed to sit and not be claimed right away.
Unclaimed Prizes and Sports of The National Lottery This might be hard to believe, but there are many National Lottery winning tickets that go unclaimed. Get out there and get your money people. Between march and July 2006, there was a total of 5,313,852.50 Pounds of unclaimed prizes. If these ticket holders to hurry up, by the time the calender hits 2007, all this prize money will be relinquished. This money will be given to charities by the National Lottery.
Unclaimed lottery prizes from recent drawings are sitting one if from a Euro Million draw and the other is from a Thunder Ball Draw (hey isn’t that a cartoon?). The most amazing winner is from the same day, could you imagine the chances of that. Two people the same day, both won million dollar jackpots and neither one of them checked their tickets.
Biggest National Lottery Unclaimed Prize In August of 2006, the help of Don cater Twin Crier was requested to help jog the memory of the winner of a 9,476,995 Pounds ticket. The prize was still unclaimed a month alter. The significance of the winning date, is that it was the same date London won the rights to host the 2012 Olympics. It must have been another sports fan.

The city of York is one of the most historic cities in Europe and is one of the highlights of a trip to the UK. In this article, we will talk about some of York’s most historic sights and the history behind them and list some of its most popular attractions. To begin with, did you know that York is one of the most haunted cities in the world, with over 500 recorded sightings? It was in fact named the most haunted city in Europe by the Ghost Research Foundation International (GRFI.)
York Minster is a fine Gothic cathedral and is one, of not thee, largest in Europe. The English Reformation introduced the first Anglican archbishop and caused the church to loose ownership of much of its land. Under queen Elizabeth I there was a concerted effort to remove all traces of the Roman Catholic Church from the cathedral, and during this period there was a great deal of looting of much of the cathedral’s treasures, as well destruction of tombs, windows, and alters.

York Minster We have already spoken a little about this magnificent gothic buiding but did you know that it has its own police force? Thats right, after an arson attack in 1829 that destroyed parts of the east transcept and south west tower the guardians of the cathedral were put in place to protect it.
The Shambles This street used to be where the butchers of York made their trade but today is full of little coffee shops and other little curious shops. It is probably the best preserved example of a medieval street in Britain, the second storeys of the fifteenth century houses that form each side of the street lean inwards so far that the roofs on either side are almost touching each other.
Clifford’s Tower The remains of York Castle built in 1068 by William the Conqueror to control the North of England. It is named after Roger de Clifford who was hung by chains here after the Battle of Boroughbridge in 1322.
Jorvik Viking Museum This museum has welcomed 15 million visitors over the past 25 years. You can journey through the reconstruction of Viking-Age streets, as they would have been in the year AD975 when the viking invaders had control of the city.
The Guy Fawkes Inn is a York townhouse and is famous for being the birth place of Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes was born in 1570 and is famous in English history as ringleader of the ‘Gunpowder Plot’, the failed terrorist plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, on 5th November 1605. This is the source of the British ‘bonfire night’ celebrations which take place on the 5th on November.
