Do you guys like my shirt? It’s new :) The title basically explains it all. My first week of summer has been successfully relaxing. I’ve been staying up to date on So You Think You Can Dance, which is AMAZING, and watched the Glee finale along with the MTV Movie Awards. Also have been obsessing over the new iPhone 4 lately and I might even be getting it for my birthday! Starting rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar on Sunday, in which I play Annas and the stuff I have to sing is ridiculously high. It’ll be an interesting process. And next week’s video lands right on my birthday so expect something really special! …it probably wont be that great :) Comment Questions: 1. What is your ideal birthday present? 2. What would you give me for my birthday if you could? :P 3. If you took your driving test, was it hard? Did you fail? Share your story! 4. What are your thoughts on SYTYCD, the Glee finale, MTV Movie Awards, the new iPhone 4, or anything else you heard about recently? Opera Glasses and Hairspray: A Musical Review

Hairspray, is a musical set in Maryland 1962. Our story revolves around Tracy, an overweight high schooler, Tracy would love to become famous, and is prepared to do something about it. This musical is fast-paced, and colorful, to make sure that you don’t miss a beat, remember to bring along your opera glasses.

As Tracy is watching television one day, she hears that a popular show is going to sponsor a dance contest. Tracy knows that is is her long dreamed of shot at fame. When her overweight mother finds out about her plans, she discourages the idea for two reasons, one is that she worries that people will make fun of her sweet but overweight daughter, and the other is that she thinks the show plays racist music.

Tracy does make it to the audition with permission from her father, Wilbur. While she is auditioning she meets the popular hunk Link Larkin. Get ready to put on your opera glasses as you will want to catch Tracy’s eyes light up just as yours may have back in high school. Tracy daydreams that she and Link Larkin will end up together one day. She sings absolutely beautiful songs about her love sick dream. Tracy is awakened from her sweet dream as she does not make the cut to be on the show due to her weight, just as her mother suspected would happen.

Poor Tracy then returns back to school. Her troubles do not end at school. Tracy is then given a detention once again due to her hair being so big that kids sitting behind her cannot even see the chalk board! Hence, you can tell a reason why the musical is given the name Hairspray.

As Tracy sits in detention, she meets a black boy named Seaweed who offers to teach her some dance moves, Tracy picks him up on the offer and is taught some amazing moves. Tracy also finds out that there is a dance scheduled, which she attends with Seaweed. While attending, Tracy shows off some of the amazing moves that she has learned, but it is not just those from her school who are watching, but the owner of the T.V. show that is featuring the big dance contest, the owner happens to catch Tracy’s moves and is impressed, he then invites her to be on the show. Remember to use your opera glasses at this point to see Tracy’s face as her dreams come true.

Again after all this Tracy finds more good news, Link Larkin, the love of her life is to sing a romantic song to her on the show! Amber, who is another girl that attends Tracy’s school is also in love with Link, finds out, and decides to take her rage out on on Tracy, cruelty ensues, including knocking Tracy out with a volleyball.

As we continue with the play, Tracy is invited to record shop that Seaweed’s mother owns, all during the play, Tracy continues to grow close to Seaweed, and is upset to find out that the show that she is about to go on, only allows black people to attend their shows once a month, on “Negro Day” because of this Tracy finds herself fighting for black rights, and helping her best friend, the ending of Hairspray the musical is sure to please, but you will have to attend to find out.

Review:Wicked the Musical with Opera Glasses

Brilliance is the only work to describe th musical, Wicked. Growing up I remember watching the classical rendition of The Wizard of Oz, which was originally made in 1939. I am sure, that all of you remember it as an integral part of your youth. Wicked, is the story behind the Wizard of Oz, and how the Wicked with of the West, got so wicked.

To begin, I advise you to bring a pair of opera glasses. You will find amazing costumes, and characters you won’t believe, you will not want to miss one bit, and this is what opera glasses will do for you. Flowing silk materials make up the costumes, the musical numbers will amaze you. Opera glasses will give you all the detail you desire.

I love how you learn who the good witch, Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West truly are. You learn how they acted growing up. You find out how Glinda, (the good witch) really was.

You will be surprised at the twists and turns of your feelings on these two characters. In my view, Glinda the good witch was not so perfect after all. Growing up Glinda is one of those spoiled and popular young girls; where as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba, has a terrible childhood. Her childhood is terrible due to her green skin color and people making fun of her. The Wicked Witch of the West has no mother growing up. Elphaba is raised only by her father. You will see the good things that Elphaba actually does. After the end of the masterpiece, you may want to purchase a t-shirt, hat, or a sweatshirt of the Wicked Witch of the West. Most places have Wicked items for sale after the musical. With the touching music you may end up purchasing a CD for your listening pleasure.

Wicked is an award winning Tony musical and deserves every praise it is given. Although the New York Times did not give Wicked favorable reviews, just ask anyone who has seen Wicked. You are sure to get a smile with either the word or words “excellent”, “magnificent”, “so good you have to see it!” and more. opera glasses will make the most out of your viewing pleasure.

Wicked has been hailed as the masterpiece of the year. As this article is being written, Wicked is on its second national tour. Wicked has broken records in box office after box office. As of yet if you have not seen Wicked, you are missing a wonderful show, that you will not soon forget. Buy tickets as soon as possible, although, truth be told, you will have plenty of opportunities to see the performance, as I am sure it will be around for years. Opera glasses are the best way to enjoy Wicked the musical.

Opera Glasses: A comedic Review of Shear Madness

If you are reading this, you are probably planning on seeing Shear Madness which is a play written by Paul Portner. In this review, I would like to prepare you for the comedic experience of a lifetime! To get you started, let us just say that the title of the play is a drastic understatement. This is truly a performance requiring opera glasses.

The stage is set to take place at a unisex hair salon. The usual gossip takes place. As in real life, for some reason, people seem to think they need to share their utmost secrets with their hairdresser. So many funny lines take place as well as an intriguing storyline. The people acting are extremely believable characters. You have the snapping gum pretty hairdresser with a gorgeous figure who is an airhead, the brightly colored clothing character played by the homosexual hairdresser (fabulously played by John McGivern in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when I attended), a high class society woman, policemen and the different clientele that comes in. Of course, one man is a hunk which makes John McGivern’s character giggle with glee.

Shear Madness is truly an evolutionary play; this is because it is always changing! What I mean by this, is that many of the words that are spoken in the play are not actually in the script but rather are given as improvisations by gifted comedians, in fact, much of the things talked about in the play focuses on current local and world news, you will never know what to expect. One of the things I found most amusing about this performance, is that many times, actors are caught off guard by the other actor’s improvised lines, and you see them trying to contain their own laughter. For this you will surely want to bring your opera glasses as not to miss a beat!

During the play, all of a sudden, one of the characters will speak to the audience and ask for your opinion. People shout out the answer. Answers vary and it adds an entire new dimension to the already hilarious play. Be careful if you sit in the front three rows as you may be spotted out as the butt of a witty joke. Do not worry; the jokes are funny yet silly.

The hair salon is really just a front for the real story, for not too far into the play we find that owner of the hair salon has been murdered. The owner lived in an apartment above the salon before she was murdered, and the plot rapidly develops into a murder mystery. As you are in attendance undoubtedly you will find yourself trying to unravel the mystery behind the murder to see if you are the first to discover the true killer. Make sure that you bring your opera glasses along, to ensure that you don’t miss a single beat in this thriller.

What makes this comedy play different than any other play is that the guilty murderer is different each time. The characters in the play will talk to the audience and ask them questions. The audience actually votes and chooses who the murderer is. As odd as this may sound, it is really a very clever concept. Some people even see this play more than once and usually see a different ending.

This play is often called the longest running, or second longest running non musical performances. Many critics have given this play wonderful reviews, because of the witty comedy and wonderful performances, which is why of course; this play has been around for so long.

You will want to bring your Opera glasses as you will not want to miss one entertaining moment of Shear Madness. Opera glasses will ensure that you will capture each and every laugh.

Learn A Little More About Opera Glasses

Have you been at a concert or in a theater and wished you could see the stage better? You should consider getting a pair of opera glasses. They are more than just beautiful and classic pieces of history. Modern opera glasses can help you see what is going on around you at any performance. This need has not changed since the 1800′s when they became popular with people attending the Paris opera.

Opera was also an important social event. People attending the opera wanted to be able to see and be seen and often spent time scanning the audience as well. To do this, they needed a simple and convenient magnifying device. Opera glasses were the perfect solution.

Opera glasses quickly became more than just ways to see the stage. A night at the opera was simply more than just an evening out. People came to the opera to be seen, and to make important social connections. It was critical to be able to see who was sitting with whom and what people were doing during the performance. Many people spent more of the evening scanning the audience than they did watching the drama onstage.

Because of this, anything connected to the opera could become a status symbol. Opera glasses were no exception. A person attending the theater often had a pair made of expensive materials such as gold or enamel. The outsides of the glasses were often highly decorated. Cases to keep the glasses in were often highly decorated as well. Different variations came into being including lorgnette models that had an attached handle and folding models that were quite compact.

Opera glasses are still used today and can be quite helpful in modern theaters which can be very large. You can find them in many specialty stores such as ones which sell cameras and binoculars. There are also a number of websites which sell opera glasses. These can be good starting places to look. These sites allow you to compare a number of different models and prices.

One thing to look at when selecting your opera glasses is what the level of magnification is. Unlike a telescope or high powered binoculars, you will want to make sure that there is a fairly low level of magnification. A 3x magnification factor is considered ideal. This allows you to get a large field of view and it will keep shaking from hand movement as low as possible.

Once you know what your options are you can decide what style you are interested in. They still come in folding and lorgnette styles. There are compact models which will fold down into plastic cases which can make them more durable for outside use. This could be handy at an outdoor concert or at a rock concert where you may accidentally drop them.

Opera glasses can be a useful and beautiful accessory. It is an item with a long history that can make your trip to the theater much more enjoyable.
