Check out my backstage interview with Kris Allen, winner of American Idol Season 8. Kris Allen was a 24 year old contestant from Jacksonville, Arkansas when he tried out for American Idol. His big break came when he auditioned as part of Season 8 in Louisville, Kentucky. After just a few performances which propelled him into the Top 12, Kris quickly became one of the favorites to win the show. By the end of the season Kris Allen had made it to the finale, where he faced off against the season’s long standing front runner Adam Lambert. After their final performances and over 100 million total votes were registered, Kris Allen was declared the winner of American Idol Season 8 by less than one million votes. Check out my backstage interview with Lee DeWyze, winner of American Idol Season 9. Lee DeWyze was a 24 year old contestant from Mount Prospect, Illinois when he tried out for American Idol. His big break came when he auditioned as part of Season 9 in Chicago, and quickly became a favorite of the panel, especially Simon Cowell. During his time on the show DeWyze performed a number of pop hits including Fireflies by Owl City, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and Lips of an Angel by Hinder. His contemporary sound and easy going personality quickly made him a front runner to win the show. DeWyze eventually made it to the finale, where he faced off against Crystal Bowersox in front of over 30 million viewers. More than 100 million votse were registered before it was announced that Lee DeWyze had won Season 9 of American Idol. Soon after winning it was announced that Lee DeWyze had signed to RCA Records and would be releasing his debut album later that year. Crystal Bowersox Saved American Idol Elvis Presley 2010 Top 9 final season 9 performance April 14. Adam Lambert called her authentic. Judges Randy : Every week, I know I say it like a broken record. That is the way to come out. It was dope. Youve got this whole blues cool vibe going on, I thought I was listening to somebody’s record. It could have been the second coming of Bonnie Raitt. I loved it. Ellen : This is gonna be a broken record and I am just so tired of telling you how great you are. Fantastic. Kara: Another solid performance from Crystal. I love the up-tempo, feel like your personality comes out more. I think you did some really good things tonight. Simon: What I loved about that was you didn’t choose an obvious song. You chose something that suited you. You put your own slant on it and most importantly you didn’t fall into the karaoke trap. Sounded great. Congratulations once again.

You want to make sure that you dont have so much going on, that it distracts from what you have going on. Usher says she has a true shot at being a true artist. Shes rocking Missy Elliott boots. Oh, pitchy pitchy pitchy! Uhm. She goes for the high notes, shes not screeching, but shes not nailing the notes. Chaka is effing hard to sing. You better have damn awesome vocal control. Something Siobhan does not have. This is a HOT mess. Randy says, Big songI dont know if it quite caught on pitch wisenot one of your best, I like your courageousness and convictionkind of rough. Ellen says, I loved you, but I thought it was not your best performance. Michael Lynche idolonfox.com Big Mike gave a stunning vocal on “This Woman’s Work” by Maxwell. Kara being brought to tears was only like 2% Kara being weird and dramatic and needing attention. The other 98% was legit. Michael picked a very difficult song and pulled it off effortlessly. His falsetto and his one big note at the end were particularly stellar. It’s actually a shame that at this point they cram eight performers into an hour because I would’ve liked to hear more of Michael on this song. The snippet we heard wasn’t nearly what he could’ve done with it if he could’ve built it up and really told a story. www.American-Idol-HD.com They make fun of Casey, like hes a soap opera star. They mock his laugh. And his hair! Tonight, its just Casey and his guitar. Theres a cello on stage with him. Wow. Very tender, emotional vocal. He doesnt have a perfect voice, but it adds character to the song. It kicks in on the second verse. I like this a lot. Ok, Im getting a little chill here, people. Wonderful. Casey, REALLY needed a performance like this. Randy says, I love that you were playing acoustic, love the sensitive vibe, impressed that you took that leap, youve got this blues exterior, it wasnt the perfect vocal, but I really felt you. Ellen says, That to me was your best performance to date, so soulful. It was a beautiful arrangement, I wanted to feel you pour yourself into a song, and you did. Kara says, You showed vulnerability, it was tasteful, its showing depth, thats what I wanted to seei think you can do more still. Simon says, I think it was the best performance of the night so far. Week to week change has been ginormousim very very impressed with you tonight. Ryan tries to pull something personal out of Casey, he ask him what he was thinking about during the song.
