If you struggle to grow your own nails, you may have considered, and even tried, some form of false nail to give you attractive, long nails. The problem with most types of false nails is the damage they cause to the underlying natural nail. Some types of false nails are obviously fake and do not look natural. You should consider gel nails if these concerns are familiar to you.
Made from a pre-mix of polymer and monomer gel, gel nails are applied to the nail and then cured in one of several ways. Light-cured gels are cured under UV lights, no-light gels are cured by brushing or spraying a gel activator onto the gel nail – a quicker process than sitting with your hands under UV lights. Gel nails are quicker to apply than acrylic nails, as there is less filling. The mixture is odourless, making it a more pleasant process for the technician and yourself.
Gel nails look and feel more natural than acrylic nails due to their clarity, thinness and flexibility. The do not lift easily, although they can break. A clean break can be repaired with nail glue, but if the gel shatters, you may need to return to the salon to have it fixed. The glossy finish of gel nails makes them very popular, as they do not need polish to look fabulous. Polish can be applied, as can other nail decorations and French manicures. Gel nails won’t turn yellow after a while, unlike acrylic nails.
If your own nails don’t seem to grow, or keep their shape, gel nails can be applied without any fear of damaging your natural nails. You can choose the length you prefer, and have beautiful long nails with little fuss. Gel nails are best applied in a salon, as the application and fixing process is difficult to do on your own.
With Acrylic nails, the damage to the natural nail means that you will be more likely to keep replacing them to hide your damaged nails. This becomes a never-ending cycle that is difficult to halt. Gel nails, because they don’t damage the nail, can be considered a temporary nail enhancement that allows your own nails to grow out, strong and healthy. Gel nails are a little more expensive than acrylic nails, and tend to last for less time, but at least when you do remove them you’ll have your own lovely nails underneath.
Manicured, elegant nails are the finishing touch to a polished image. They are on show all day, and it is important that they look as good as the rest of you. If growing your own nails is proving to be a struggle, you should try the natural-looking gel nails now available in salons. They protect weak nails so that they can grow naturally while protecting them from damage and breakage. Give your nails a chance, with super natural-looking gel nails.
