The Way Indian Cinema Affects Lives Of Indians

Not only, cinema reflects the mores of the society, but also, it itself affects and impacts the thinking of the viewers. We follow movies enthusiastically and even carry them into our lives making use of facilities like Bollywood mobile sites and widgets on our cell phones. Consciously or unconsciously, there are several aspects of a movie that we choose and incorporate in our way of living.

Because their admired Bollywood actor endorses a firm, people buy the car, mobile or clothes made by that firm. Further, that is just one of the various ways through which Bollywood influences public. We also enjoy reproducing the style and dressing sense adopted in the movies by the popular actors. Furthermore, these are merely a small part of the apparent or imperceptible ways through which Indian cinema affects the people.

Socially relevant movies such as Babul that tackles the issue of widow-remarriage and Kabhi Khush Kabhi Gham that emphasizes Indian culture requiring kids to value their parents, suggests that Indian cinema goes beyond entertainment. Rang De Basanti brought forth the very sticky and political problem of MIG crashes that was pushed into oblivion. Only the movie made the country rise up and ask for information.

There are several medium budget movies, especially from the new generation directors like Madhur Bhandarkar and Prakash Mehra, that induce us to question lives around us. They not only make us reconsider the institutional framework but even spread understanding about our duties and rights that are normally not known, in spite of state run campaigns. The films have also acted as eye openers for public by bringing forth socio-political issues, for instance in movies like Gulaal, Rann and Corporate.

The new wave of Indian cinema has more arduously started experimenting with new topics that are closer to our society. So, if your son returns after watching 3 Idiots and announces that he does not wish to be an engineer anymore, you will comprehend how this age of Bollywood mobile is deeply influencing your life.
