Who is the Best Fantasy Basketball Player?

Are you excited for a new year of basketball? I know I am, and I’d like to talk about the fantasy element of it. Leagues are in full effect right now, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. This discussion will focus on who to draft at number one, as many people seem to be of differing mindsets this year. No one should complain, as every possibility is phenomenal.

There are great players to choose from, there’s no doubt about that. However, I see how it can be a difficult decision, and I’d like to help you out a bit. Let’s take a look at the potential contenders at number one this year.

If you’re into the idea of getting an elite point guard, you’ll have to look no further than Chris Paul. No basketball player has been more effective than Paul during the last two years.

The best thing about Paul is the fact that he’ll usually lead the league in both assists and steals. On top of that, his free throw percentage is great, as are his FG%, scoring, and rebounds for a point guard.

You might appreciate the versatility of LeBron James though. Having a forward who gets you 7+ assists per game is a rare thing, and it gives you a lot of flexibility at the guard position.

Let’s not forget about the fact that LBJ blocks shots, shoots threes, and happens to be one of the best scorers in the NBA. At 25 years old, many would argue that his best days are still ahead of him. However, the same could be said of Chris Paul.

Others may argue that LeBron’s free throw percentage is a bit low and his turnovers too high, both of which could hurt fantasy teams. Therefore, they prefer the similar stats of Kobe Bryant. While his rebounds and assists are a bit lower, everything else is nearly the same.

Some may even choose to go with a sleeper pick like Kevin Durant or Danny Granger, both fine options as well. Ultimately, the decision is yours and it all depends on the stat categories you’re going after and who appeals to you. As they say, go with your gut.

Dwight Howard Vertical Jump and Strength Workout

Dwight Howard is 6″11 and weighs more than 260 pounds. He is definately a force in the NBA and gives defenders problems. Although, this wasn’t the case his rookie year. Since then he has taken his workouts seriously and gotten MUCH stronger. To prove my point, let’s take a look at his bench press numbers. Dwight Howard has improved his bench from 185 to 360 since his rookie season. Those are some pretty impressive numbers. So how was he able to do this? Let’s find out…

If you ask Dwight Howard how he has been able to improve his strength so fast he will tell you it is because of Joe Rogowski, his personal trainer. The focal point of the workout routines that Joe provides for Dwight is gaining muscle mass and explosive power. He makes sure that each routine is different so the muscles are constantly challenged and can never adapt. For example, Joe mixes in both plyometrics and weight lifting. The plyometrics will help Dwight improve his speed and agility whereas the weight training helps him gain strength and power. Below is a list of a few of the exercises that are included in Dwight Howard’s workout routine…

Bench Press – Dwight changes his routine with flat, incline and decline bench. He also mixes it up by using the straight bar and dumbbells. Rogowski likes to have Dwight perform the pyramid routine. The pyramid he uses is 10-8-6-4-2.

Leg Press – Dwight has back hyperextension therefore, Joe prefers to use the Leg Press machine instead of free weight squats. He doesn’t want to risk any injury to Dwight’s back. Dwight can still lift very heavy weight and keep his back from injury by using the leg press machine.

The Perfect Push Up – One of Dwight’s favorite exercises is the push up. He performs many of his push up routines at his home. In fact, he integrates his push ups into video game sessions. For example, when he’s playing a boxing game (his favorite), Dwight does a set every time he knocks someone out. Role-playing game? Every time he dies, he pumps out as many push-ups as possible.

Dwight Howard has an impressive 39″ vertical leap. Joe Rogowski incorporates plyometric exercises and speed drills into Dwight’s workout routine as well. This keeps him flying above the rim so he can continue to throw down those impressive SUPERMAN DUNKS! A few of his favorite exercises to increase his vertical leap include box jumps, sprints and the jump rope.

The Key To Improving Your Vertical Jump

Many people struggle to do the right thing when they are working on vertical jump training. There could be many reasons behind this. Some of the key aspects to a successful vertical jump program are weight and repetitions, type of the exercise, and what you eat before and after the workout. Read about these aspects and see if they can help you find the problem.

A few of those parts are amount of weight and number of repetitions, types of exercises, and nutrition. Make sure you use this guide to advise you on what to do for each different part.

Balancing amount of weight and repetitions in a workout is important to being an effective jumper. If you train with heavy weights more often than training with a lot of repetitions, you will become a slow jumper even if you can jump high (and vice versa). Make a conscious effort to keep track of how you train so you do not become unbalanced in any part of your vertical.

Some exercises can be considered high weight, low repetition even without actual weights. So be aware that just because the workout you are doing does not require weights, that it still could be a high weight, low repetition exercise.

The three main types of vertical jumping exercises are weight training, plyometrics, and general jump exercises. All of these do different things for you in your vertical jump training.

Weight training exercises are usually designed to be high weight and low repetition exercises. Plyometrics are usually low weight and high repetition exercises. General jump exercises can go both ways, but are usually average weight and average repetitions.

Watching what you eat before and after a vertical jump program is just as key as the workout itself. Eating foods high in protein is a great way to increase the leg muscle gain in your workout. After you workout with your vertical jump training your body is tired and needs nutrition. The best thing you can do is eat healthy and give your body good things to build it up with.

Finding the right workout for your body will take experimenting with all kinds of training methods. Use this help to help you get the most out of your workouts. It may sound complicated, but designing the right workout for you can be as easy as trial and error.
