There’s only 7 degrees in a scale and they’re not entirely flexible when it comes to how they relate to each other (at least to the western ear). . . only a handful of progressions really please the ear enough for people to shell out 16$ a pop for an album :p

A virtual bible of these kinds of progressions is europop. Gunther or Rednex. They cover pretty much all of them.
